PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - LP Houlton received a signed permit for their renovation last night in a New Limerick town meeting.

Louisiana Pacific is adding an approximately 90,000 sq ft update to their Houlton plant. LP Houlton broke ground today, without a ceremony due to COVID restrictions. They will be starting demolition and construction soon.

“So this whole section of the mill is going to be reconstructed,” said Nathan Whitney, LP Houlton plant manager. “The pawns and the logfeed here will be demolished along with the debarker and there’ll be a new addition here heading away from us that will house the new pawns and the new debarker.”

LP also announced a $500 thank you bonus and a $2,000 retention bonus for employees after 6 months. LP says the renovation shows their commitment to LP Houlton, their second oldest mill.
